We want you to know that we understand you want a backsplash cut to your exact specs. You can remove the panel and shelf or bar any time for cleaning, etc in less than a minute. The only part that requires some attention to detail is the upper mounting bracket, which needs to be level so your backsplash is level. You simply need a screwdriver and a level. You don't need to be a DIY wizard or contractor.

The backsplash shelf and bar units feature a proprietary mounting solution that ensures almost anyone can install these. If you have not noticed a grain to the finish, look closely and you’ll see brush strokes running either left to right or up and down.
We offer the option for you to specify the “grain direction” of the #4 brushed backsplash material if you want to match your hood, oven, range, dishwasher, trash compactor, fridge, or whatever else you have. A small percentage of appliances are made with a #3 brushed finish which is slightly rougher in appearance. Most, as in 99%+/-, are made with the #4 brushed material due to the ubiquity of the material. These panels will match the finish on your stainless steel appliances, which feature a “brushed” stainless steel which has a grain (brush strokes) to it. In addition, the left and right sides also feature additional forming, resulting in a "c channel" shape. This also helps with rigidity and aesthetics. This is achieved by bending all four edges at 90 degrees.
The minimum thickness of the panel itself is 1/2", and the maximum thickness is 1-1/2". The 20 gauge is the option for customers who like to ensure they're only getting the best, and are more concerned with quality than price. The thickness is close to that of a CD or DVD. This ensures you have rigidity and the assembly is strong enough to last for years and years. We offer the backsplash/shelf units in the heavy duty 20 gauge thickness only.
